CUZZO GATOR

Cuzzo Gator / Cloisonne Gator is a 14x17" piece made using Faber-Castell PITT Pen, Copic Sketch marker, Posca marker, Prismacolor pencils/brush markers, and Jelly Roll & Sakura white ink pens.

The Cloisonné Gator skull was inspired by 14th century Chinese Cloisonné enamel and ceramic works I saw on display while visiting the @nortonmuseumofart. Creating this piece was pretty intense as it involved extensive layering of mediums and shading throughout the piece; it is also larger than my normal works although I will continue doing work this size. The piece also features the Florida-famous Spiny Orb Weaver spider, and 5 species of native butterflies: Giant Swallowtail, Viceroy, Zebra Longwing, Zebra Swallowtail, and Malachite. The colors of the butterflies are not true to life, but rather reflect the color scheme of the enamel gator skull.
